Who we are, and why we do what we do
We are a group of homeschooling families in and around Spartanburg, SC, who came together in 2010 to provide our kids with arts experiences that are best enjoyed in a group. We believe that the best education is an active one, based on curiosity, creativity, personal experience, and interaction with passionate people who share what they love.
This year we offered applied art and art history, creative/ fantasy writing, contemporary literature discussions, “weird science” experiments, photography, an overview of WWII with visits from two veterans, and individual and group guitar lessons for middle school-aged students. We also offered a parent-child music class for babies and toddlers.
Our co-op is free. We do not charge any fees other than materials (as for art) or for classes which are taught by an outside professional (such as guitar). Classes and workshops are led by parents or community members with talents or experiences to share. Any homeschooling family is welcome to join us, regardless of academic methodology or faith. We only ask that parents lead or assist in classes or workshops.
